Neurodevelopmental Assessments
All our assessments are individually planned to consider the specific needs and presentation of the person seeking assessment.
All assessments have two stages – an initial consultation/screening and a full assessment if indicated.
Adult Autism Spectrum Condition – Diagnostic Assessment
Stage 1 - £450
This will include an initial brief telephone conversation followed by a full consultation with a clinical psychologist. Relevant background information will be gathered, and the assessment process discussed. Screening questionnaires will be sent out, returned, scored and interpreted and a decision made about whether to continue to stage 2. Feedback will be provided, and the next stage agreed. A brief report will be provided if no further assessment is required.
Stage 2 - £1350
This will include a full diagnostic interview lasting between 2 and 3 hours. You will need to attend this part of the assessment with a close relative who has known you throughout your life. A parent would be ideal. You will be seen by two clinical psychologists who will take notes and independently rate responses to agree upon scores to be given in each diagnostic category. The assessment tool used will be the Adult Asperger’s Assessment (AAA). After the interview, the details will be coded, and a decision made about a diagnosis. It is likely that we will need to review your school reports if these are available. Results will be fed back via consultation and a full diagnostic report will be provided
Total cost of completed assessment - £1800
Child or Adolescent Autism Spectrum Condition – Diagnostic Assessment
Stage 1 - £500
This will include an initial brief telephone conversation followed by a full consultation with a clinical psychologist. This will be with the young person and their parents – or in certain circumstances with the parents alone. Relevant background information will be gathered, and the assessment process discussed. Screening questionnaires will be sent out to both home and school, returned, scored and interpreted. A young person’s school will be contacted to gather relevant information about their presentation in school. A decision will be made about whether to continue to stage 2. Feedback will be provided in a consultation, and the next stage agreed. A brief report will be provided if no further assessment is required.
Stage 2 - £1400
This will include a full diagnostic interview with parents to gather developmental history and to consider features of ASC.
The young person will be seen for a full cognitive assessment using the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC V) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS) will be completed. For teenagers, their school reports will be reviewed together with information provided by their school. After the assessments all information will be scored and interpreted, and a decision made about a diagnosis. Results will be fed-back via a consultation and a full diagnostic report will be provided.
In the case of primary school children, a school observation will be completed. – £300 + Travel
